A distraught mom, Caroline Abiodun, has accused medical doctors on the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State, of negligence, which led to the paralysis of her 27-year-old daughter, Mofeyintoluwa Abiodun.
Mofeyintoluwa, a graduate of Animal Vitamin and Biotechnology from the Ladoke Akintola College, Ogbomoso, was allegedly misdiagnosed by the hospital.
Caroline stated she took her daughter to the hospital for malaria remedy, alleging that the medical doctors gave her the flawed remedy that worsened her well being.
Narrating her ordeal to Saturday PUNCH, Abiodun lamented that the hospital destroyed her daughter’s life.
“In January 2021, my daughter got here down with malaria and typhoid fever and I took her for remedy on the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta. Earlier than going to the hospital, we had already achieved a malaria and typhoid check which got here out optimistic.
“Once we bought to the hospital, we have been directed to at least one Dr Lukmon Ogunjimi who attended to us. He prescribed some medicine and requested us to do an MRI scan.
“Three days later, my daughter’s situation grew to become worse. After utilizing the medicine, she grew to become weak and had rashes throughout her physique. We took the results of the scan to the physician and he informed us that there was nothing flawed together with her mind. We complained about her situation and he prescribed one other set of medicine, together with topiramate.

The 72-year-old retiree lamented that her household had incurred huge medical bills, leaving them emotionally and financially drained.
She added that regardless of the involvement of the state Ministry of Justice and human rights organisations, the hospital refused to take accountability for the deteriorating situation of her daughter.
“My daughter can’t stroll with out help; she will be able to’t do something. When contacted, the hospital’s Head of Public Relations and Communication, Segun Orisajo, stated the hospital couldn’t be blamed for the predicament of Mofeyintoluwa.
Orisajo stated, “There was neither a case of misdiagnosis nor flawed prescribing.”
