The Rivers State Police Command has paraded two pastors, Prophet Bassey Umoren (60) and Prophet Elijah Anietie (50), who have been caught with fetish gadgets, together with caskets, monkey skulls, carved skeletons, and different religious supplies, of their respective church buildings.
The duo, who have been apprehended by youths of Rumunduru group in Obio/Akpor Native Authorities Space of the state, are the founders of God’s Deliverance Apostolic Church and Energy Home of Glory Worldwide Gospel Church, each situated alongside Eneka Highway in Rumunduru.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this on Thursday whereas parading the suspects on the Rivers State Police Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
Iringe-Koko mentioned, “This case, which has been trending on social media, includes two pastors reported by youths of Rumunduru group, led by their youth chief, Henry Worlu, on January 20, 2025, at about 9 am.
“The youths introduced the suspects, Prophet Umoren Bassey and Prophet Elijah Anietie, each of Akwa Ibom State origin and handed them over to the police for discreet investigation.”
She listed the gadgets recovered from their church buildings together with a number of pictures—a few of which have been of kids—small caskets, religious books, carved pictures, wood skulls, crosses, and different ritual gadgets.
The police spokesperson famous that investigations into the matter have been ongoing to determine the total extent of their actions and attainable victims.
In the meantime, the youths of the Rumunduru group have been lauded for his or her vigilance in exposing the alleged actions of the suspects, which they claimed posed a religious and social risk to the group.
