Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, a senior fellow on the American Immigration Council (AIC), mentioned there are presently an estimated 13 million to fifteen million undocumented immigrants in the US, and the fact of mass deportation is difficult.
“The president can considerably improve immigration enforcement, however the US doesn’t have the potential proper now to spherical up and deport hundreds of thousands of individuals,” Reichlin-Melnick informed AFP.
“It will require the hiring of tens of hundreds of recent legislation enforcement brokers and workers and require the US to construct a whole lot of recent detention centres and a whole lot of recent courtrooms.”
Reichlin-Melnick mentioned it was unclear that Congress can be prepared to spend the sum of money it might value to deport hundreds of thousands of individuals.
“It will require Congress to offer the administration tens of billions, if not a whole lot of billions, of {dollars},” he mentioned.
