Syrian rebels stated Sunday that President Bashar al-Assad had fled the nation, calling on residents overseas to return to a “free Syria” and saying that Damascus was freed from the “tyrant”.
“The tyrant Bashar al-Assad has fled” and “we declare the town of Damascus free”, the insurgent factions stated on Telegram, including that “after 50 years of oppression below Baath rule, and 13 years of crimes and tyranny and (pressured) displacement… we announce at present the top of this darkish interval and the beginning of a brand new period for Syria”.
