Shell Nigeria Exploration and Manufacturing Firm (SNEPCo) has accredited a $10 billion funding for the Bonga North deep-water challenge, aiming to maintain operations at its Bonga Floating Manufacturing Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility. The challenge will see the corporate drill 16 wells—eight manufacturing and eight water injection wells—and improve subsea infrastructure to connect with the FPSO. The challenge may also contain Shell making modifications to the Bonga Most important FPSO. Anticipated to supply over 300 million barrels of oil equal, Bonga North targets peak manufacturing of 110,000 barrels per day by 2030. Operated by SNEPCo with companions together with TotalEnergies and NNPC, the Bonga facility has been a cornerstone of Shell’s Nigerian operations. The power, which started operations in 2005, has a capability of 225,000 barrels of oil per day. In 2023, it produced its one-billionth barrel of oil, marking a big milestone.
