The Nigerian Affiliation of Resident Medical doctors declared a seven-day warning strike over the kidnapping of Dr Ganiyat Popoola who was kidnapped almost eight months in the past on the the kidnap of their colleague, Dr Ganiyat Popoola on the Nationwide Eye Centre in Kaduna State.
NARD President, Dr Dele Abdullahi, who disclosed this to our correspondent on Sunday, mentioned the strike will start Monday, August 26, 2024, at 12am.
Abdullahi mentioned the choice was made through the Emergency Nationwide Government Council assembly.
He mentioned, “The strike is commencing by midnight as we speak. It’s for seven days, it’s a warning strike, and it’s whole.
“Throughout the strike, there might be no concessions, and there might be no emergency care.”
Popoola, a registrar within the Division of Ophthalmology on the Nationwide Eye Centre, Kaduna, was kidnapped on December 27, 2023, alongside along with her husband and nephew.
Whereas her husband was launched in March, Popoola and her nephew stay in captivity.
Members of NARD had protested in all tertiary hospitals throughout the nation to demand Dr Popoola’s launch.
