DUBAI: Qatar has withdrawn as a key mediator for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal and warned Hamas that its Doha workplace “now not serves its goal”, a diplomatic supply advised AFP on Saturday (Nov 9).
“The Qataris knowledgeable each the Israelis and Hamas that so long as there’s a refusal to barter a deal in good religion, they can’t proceed to mediate,” the supply mentioned on situation of anonymity.
“As a consequence, the Hamas political workplace now not serves its goal.”
Qatar, with the United Sates and Egypt, has been engaged in months of fruitless negotiations for a truce with hostage and prisoner releases.
The knowledgeable supply mentioned Qatar had already “notified either side, Israel and Hamas in addition to the US administration” of its resolution.
“The Qataris conveyed to the US administration that they’d be able to re-engage in mediation when either side … display a honest willingness to return to the negotiating desk”, the supply added.
