On the primary day of his go to to Kumasi because the visitor of honour for the one centesimal anniversary of King Prempeh I’s return from exile in Seychelles, President Wavel Ramkalawan hosted a gathering with over 50 descendants of the exiled king.
The occasion, held on the Lancaster Lodge in Kumasi and facilitated by Seychelles’ Honorary Consul to Ghana, Mr. Kwame Acquah, introduced collectively members of King Prempeh I’s lineage with ties to Seychelles via grandparents and ancestors who accompanied the king throughout his exile. Attendees included descendants residing in Seychelles, Ghana, and different components of the world.
The gathering supplied a novel alternative for President Ramkalawan and First Girl Linda Ramkalawan to interact instantly with the descendants. In the course of the interactive session, the President answered questions and mentioned methods to strengthen the connection between Seychelles and the Prempeh household descendants.
In his tackle, President Ramkalawan prolonged an open invitation for them to go to Seychelles, encouraging them to discover the historic connections and expertise the Seychellois tradition and hospitality that King Prempeh I acquired throughout his 24 years in exile.
The descendants expressed heartfelt gratitude to the President for prioritizing this assembly, noting the importance of reconnecting with their Seychellois heritage and studying extra about their ancestors who lived in exile.
The occasion underscored the enduring bonds between Seychelles and the Ashanti Kingdom and marked an emotional second of reflection and unity throughout the centennial commemoration.
