The Nigerian Police Drive has recognized and detained officers allegedly concerned within the extortion of N2.3m from one Nwosu Ndubuisi.
This was disclosed in an announcement by the Zone 7 Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP M.B. Abdulkadir, on X (previously Twitter) on Friday.
Abdulkadir added that the N2 3m has been recovered and returned to the sufferer.
He said, “Additional to the sooner assertion issued on the alleged extortion of 1 Mr. Ndubuisi Nwosu by some officers of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, investigation was carried out, the officers allegedly concerned within the extortion have been recognized and detained, whereas disciplinary proceedings have commenced towards them.
“The sum of N2.3m has been recovered and returned to Mr. Ndubuisi Nwosu.
“The Assistant Inspector-Basic of Police in Cost of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Benneth C. Igweh, reassures most of the people that according to the transparency and accountability coverage of the current Inspector Basic of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, the zone will replace members of the general public on the end result of the disciplinary proceedings towards the defaulters.

Based on the report, the officers pressured Ndubuisi to promote his laptop computer at Banex Plaza in Abuja to pay for his bail.
Following this revelation, Igweh ordered an investigation into the allegations.
