Some officers of the Ondo State Safety Community Company, also called Amotekun had been injured on Friday following an assault by a gaggle of individuals suspected to be herdsmen in Akure, the state capital.
It was gathered that the corps arrested some cows which allegedly destroyed farmlands in Osi and Igboba Communities within the North Native Authorities Space of the state on Friday.
A supply narrated that the Amotekun officers had been taking the arrested cows numbering about 120 to the state headquarters of the Amotekun Command in Akure when the herders accosted them on the Akure-Ado expressway and attacked them.
The supply stated, “As they had been taking the arrested cows to Amotekun headquarters in Akure, on reaching the Sango space (of Akure) the herders got here out with harmful weapons and attacked the officers to forestall them from taking the vows away.”
Equally, a viral video obtained by our correspondent confirmed among the officers of the corps taking pictures sporadically into the air to disperse their attackers whereas the injured ones had been shortly taken into the Amotekun Hilux van.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo Amotekun, Jimoh Adeniken, confirmed the incident and stated an investigation had commenced.
