The Nigerian Police have confirmed that twenty medical college students kidnapped on August 15 whereas touring to a conference in Benue State have been freed. The scholars, from the College of Maiduguri and the College of Jos, had been seized by gunmen who demanded a ransom for his or her launch. The incident occurred close to Otukpo, Benue State. Based on police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the scholars had been “rescued tactically and professionally” with none ransom paid. The discharge follows the deployment of a police tactical squad to Benue State to safe the scholars’ launch. The Nigerian Medical College students’ Affiliation (NIMSA) additionally confirmed their secure return.
