The Nigerian Communications Satellite tv for pc (NIGCOMSAT) is partnering with France-based Eutelsat to deploy Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite tv for pc companies in Nigeria, aiming to bridge the nation’s digital divide. LEO satellites function at altitudes of 500 to 2,000 kilometers, not like conventional geostationary, which function at higher altitudes, sometimes 35,786 kilometers from Earth. Consequently, LEO satellites supply high-speed, low-latency web, making them ultimate for offering web companies to underserved communities, authorities operations, and companies. NIGCOMSAT’s Managing Director, Jane Egerton-Idehen, emphasised the partnership as a pivotal step in advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation and strengthening ties with France in satellite tv for pc know-how. The collaboration will leverage Eutelsat’s LEO satellite tv for pc community, additional positioning NIGCOMSAT as a frontrunner in satellite tv for pc communications. This growth aligns with Nigeria’s Nationwide Broadband Plan 2020–2025, which targets growing broadband penetration to 70%.
