The Ministry of International Affairs has stated that over 500 Nigerian residents have registered with the Nigerian mission in Lebanon for evacuation again to the nation.
Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, the ministry’s spokesperson, disclosed this in Abuja on Sunday.
He stated roughly 2,000 Nigerian residents reside in Lebanon, though most haven’t expressed willingness to return dwelling regardless of persuasion from the mission.
Abu-Obe acknowledged that the Federal Authorities had initiated evacuation procedures as a result of escalating battle between Israel and Hezbollah.
“President Bola Tinubu’s administration prioritises the security and well-being of Nigerian residents, and emergency protocols have been activated to make sure their swift and protected evacuation.
“The ministry is collaborating with related companies, together with the Presidency, Nationwide Emergency Administration Company, and Nigerian Immigration Service, to coordinate the evacuation train.
“The Nigerian Embassy in Beirut has issued advisories urging residents to remain indoors and comply with native authorities’ directions.”
Abu-Obe appealed to unregistered residents to contact the embassy through e-mail ([email protected]) and warned towards resisting evacuation as a result of escalating battle.
He recommended the Nigerian neighborhood’s understanding and warranted continued authorities monitoring of the state of affairs.
