On August 23, commencing at 5:10 p.m. for roughly 20 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Overseas Affairs of Japan, held a gathering with Professor Robert Dussey, Minister of Overseas Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Overseas of the Republic of Togo who’s visiting Japan to take part within the Tokyo Worldwide Convention on African Growth (TICAD) Ministerial Assembly. The overview of the assembly is as follows.
On the outset, Minister Kamikawa paid tribute to Togo’s contribution to peace and stability in West Africa by energetic mediation between the Financial Neighborhood of West African States (ECOWAS) and the three states of the Sahel Alliance. As well as, Minister Kamikawa appreciated Minister Dussey’s lecture on “Dispute Mediation and Peacebuilding within the Sahel Area” at Sophia College on August 22, noting that it was an excellent initiative that contributes to deepening understanding of Africa in Japan.
Minister Kamikawa conveyed to Minister Dussey that Japan wish to present cooperation for Togo, which serves as a logistics and transportation hub within the West African area, and contribute to strengthening regional connectivity. In response, Minister Dussey expressed gratitude for Japan’s help and expectations for Japanese firms to increase into Togo as a regional hub.
The 2 ministers confirmed the additional deepening of Japan-Togo relations towards TICAD 9 subsequent 12 months.
