Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee (EFCC) have arrested 44 people suspected of web fraud in varied places throughout Enugu and Anambra States.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC Spokesperson, disclosed this data in an announcement launched on Saturday in Abuja.
In line with him, the arrests came about on 28 and 29 September, following actionable intelligence linking the suspects to on-line prison actions.
“Upon arrest, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects exploited social media platforms, together with Instagram and Fb, to deceive unsuspecting victims.
“Some suspects used pretend identities to have interaction international nationals in romantic affairs to defraud them, whereas others possessed fraudulent paperwork on their gadgets.
“Moreover, laptops and complex cellphones have been recovered from the suspects.
In line with Oyewale, they are going to face fees in court docket as soon as investigations are concluded.
