The Nigeria Customs Service mentioned it’s mourning the dying of a Deputy Controller of Customs, Etop Essien, who died on Tuesday.

He was a visitor of the Public Account Committee of the Home of Representatives the place he appeared for questioning on Tuesday in continuation of the continued probe of revenue-generating companies and parastatals of presidency.
Whereas addressing the committee on remittance of levies into designated authorities accounts, Essien abruptly paused and mentioned “Sir, I have to take water.”
In a press release, the Nationwide Public Relations Officer of the service, Abdullahi Maiwada, mentioned till his dying, Essien served because the Deputy Comptroller in command of income within the accounts unit of the service.
He acknowledged that Essien, who was in command of the reconciliation of income for the service, handed away on the twenty fifth of June 2024 whereas making a presentation earlier than the Home Committee on Public Accounts.

Maiwada added that Essien, who joined the service in 1989, was born in 1967.
