The Lagos State Police Command has rescued a two-month-old child boy from a pair, Mr and Mrs James Uwam, in the course of the naming ceremony of the kid within the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in an announcement on Saturday, mentioned the couple paid N2,350,000 to purchase the child from a suspected baby trafficker, Loretta Nelson, who purchased the child from a pastor, Peter Udoh, for N1,450,000.
Hundeyin mentioned Udoh purchased the child for N500,000 from one other suspected baby trafficker, Gloria Sunday, who allegedly stole the child on July 11, 2024, a state of affairs that prompted the mom of the child to report the case to the police.
Following the report, Hundeyin mentioned the police swung to motion and arrested Sunday, who led them to arrest different suspects linked to the crime by detectives connected to the Oko Oba Division of the command.
The PPRO mentioned, “Detectives swung into motion which led to the arrest of Gloria Sunday who throughout interrogation confessed to promoting the child for N500,000 to at least one Pastor Peter Udoh.
“Pastor Udoh, who was subsequently arrested in Ikene City, Ogun State, admitted reselling the kid for N1,450,000 to at least one Loretta Nelson who was then additionally apprehended in Festac City, Lagos.”
Hundeyin mentioned Nelson confessed to promoting the child for N2,350,000 to at least one Mr. and Mrs. James Uwam who have been apprehended in the course of the naming ceremony of the stolen baby.
Hundeyin famous that investigations have commenced and the suspects can be arraigned on the court docket after the investigation.
