The Auditor Common’s forensic audit report on the alleged lack of Shs60 billion from Financial institution of Uganda (BoU) has been forwarded to the Directorate of Felony Investigations (CID) for additional investigations.
Speaker Anita Amongst despatched the report back to the CID after it was laid earlier than Parliament by the Authorities Chief Whip, Hon. Denis Hamison Obua on Thursday, 09 January 2025.
The Speaker mentioned that she held consultations with President Yoweri Museveni and a call was taken to have the report investigated additional. “Wanting on the components of the report, they’re legal in nature and due to their criminality, we are going to direct this report back to the CID for additional administration,” she mentioned.
Speaker Amongst declined requests by Ndorwa County East MP, Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba and Tororo North County MP, Hon. Geofrey Ekanya to have the report scrutinised by committees of Parliament earlier than the CID’s investigations. “I believed that since that is a part of the report of the Auditor Common’s report, it could ordinarily be despatched to the related committee of Parliament, then later it’s debated and we determine whether or not to ship it to the CID,” Niwagaba pleaded.
The Auditor Common’s investigation adopted a request for a forensic audit by Parliament on 28 November 2024 after the Chief of the Opposition, Hon, Joel Ssenyonyi raised concern on the lack of the cash from the Central Financial institution.
