The Niger State Emergency Administration Company (NSEMA) is intensifying a search and rescue operation following a ship mishap in Gabjibo neighborhood of Mokwa Native Authorities Space of the state.
Alhaji Abdullahi Baba-Arah, the Director-Normal of NSEMA, made this identified in a press release in Minna on Wednesday.
”The boat mishap occurred final evening Oct. 1, round 8:30 pm on the River Niger upstream Jebba dam.
”The boat was carrying roughly 300 passengers, largely ladies and youngsters, was travelling from the Mundi neighborhood for Maulid celebrations at Gbajibo.
‘The company in collaboration with the state Ministry of Transport, Mokwa Native Authorities Emergency Committee, native divers, and neighborhood volunteers, are directing and monitoring search and rescue operations,” he mentioned.
He mentioned that over 150 individuals had been rescued alive to this point because of the immediate response from neighborhood volunteers.
