The Lagos State Authorities has acquired a €120 million assist fund from the Dutch Authorities to assist and improve the actualization of its waste-to-energy mission in collaboration with a Dutch agency, Harvest Waste Consortium.
The Commissioner for The Surroundings and Water Assets, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a put up on his official X.com, Wednesday.
In keeping with Wahab the mission would convert a part of Lagos’ waste into electrical energy on the decommissioned Epe landfill, processing 2,500 to three,000 tons of waste every day out of the 13,000 to 14,000 tons generated within the state.
“The waste-to-energy mission with the Dutch firm, Harvest Waste, is backed by the Dutch Authorities to the tune of about €120 million and we’ve designated the decommissioned Epe landfill for this function.
“The Lagos State Authorities is actively decommissioning a number of landfills to create space for brand new waste administration initiatives with overseas non-public firms, together with the Jospong Group and Closing the Loop,” he acknowledged.
Wahab defined that main dumpsites, comparable to Olusosun and Solous 1, 2, and three, are within the superior levels of decommissioning, with new landfills being offered to assist the initiatives.

Recall that final yr, the Lagos Waste Administration Authority, LAWMA, revealed that it was partnering with the C40 and G-ORBIT Enterprise in efforts to transform natural waste into biogas which is used for electrical energy technology.
