The Financial Neighborhood of West African States (ECOWAS) has efficiently concluded the Technical Committee Assembly and CEOs of Funding Promotion Companies in West Africa (IPAWAS), held in Banjul, The Gambia, from September 16 to 21, 2024.
This assembly marked a major development in the direction of enhancing funding promotion and financial cooperation amongst member states, highlighted by the validation of the IPAWAS statute as a significant milestone.
The assembly was formally opened by The Gambia’s Honorable Minister of Commerce, Trade, Regional Integration and Employment, Hon. Baboucarr Ousmaila Joof, and featured participation from key ECOWAS representatives. Notably, Miatha French the ECOWAS Everlasting Consultant to The Gambia, represented the ECOWAS Commissioner for Financial Affairs and Agriculture, Mrs.Massandje, whereas the discussions amongst CEOs was chaired by Madam Aisha Rimi, Government Secretary of the Nigeria Funding Promotion Company.
The formal ratification of the IPAWAS statute solidified its function in regional funding promotion efforts. Member states dedicated to enhancing the capability and coordination of their funding companies.
